While you are reading

Since I am not providing much original content, here's something from The Sporting News to digest. Check out the third item.

I had not heard about the scout. I did hear a lot about Uncle Stan's dissatisfaction that was discussed in the Times story. I also know Gerry Fraley and know he is far from a hack. He doesn't throw stuff against a wall to see what sticks.

I am to the point where I firmly believe Stan Kasten will not return next season.

I hope I am wrong.

From what it looks over at FireJimBowden, I think Kasten stays.

Also, an FYI-I'd like to do something fun-at the end of the series I'm currently running (which will occur sometime Friday), I'll post my prediction for the opening day 25 man roster, including offsesaon acquisitions, callups, etc. I'd like for all other bloggers of the Natmosphere (and anyone else, for that matter) to do that. I'll tabulate everything and post it up and we'll give bragging rights to the winner. Feel free to have any Nats fan you know post there (or email me) their predictions-the more the merrier!

You would make a good journalist because that's exactly what they should be doing next.

I resisting saying anything on my page a couple of weeks ago because it didn't pass the test I would use at my paper. Yeah, this is just a blog. I still try not to throw stuff up there just to do so.

But the Times has mentioned it and so has Gerry Fraley. Neither has a record of irresponsibility that I know of and it matches much of what I've heard from my out-of-the-mainstream perch.

I'm not buying his denials yet. I do hope he stays. This is going to be interesting to watch.

@sean: I wouldn't bet on anything yet.

@mikeharris: I like your criteria for posting. Those of us new media types who want to survive need to maintain a level of credibility.

Still, I'm thinking that Monday's events on South Capitol Street should be interesting to report on.

You don't think someone is going to go after a 100-loss season?
